作品集《永远有多远》阿译本中的文化元素及其翻译策略：基于奈达文化分类的研究

Translation demands more than linguistic accuracy; it requires a deep understanding of cultural values and customs. As Nida (1964) notes, cultural differences can pose greater challenges for translators than language structure itself. When cultural elements have no equivalent in the target language, conveying meaning accurately and appropriately becomes even more difficult.



Within the context of Sino-Arab cultural exchange, Chinese writer Tie Ning has helped foster mutual understanding through the Arabic translation of her short story collection, How Far Is Eternity. These translations highlight both the beauty of Chinese literature and universal human emotions, emphasizing the translator’s role as a cultural mediator. Professor Abdel Aziz Hamdi, Head of the Chinese Department at Al-Azhar University, has played a significant role in this effort and has made notable contributions to promoting Chinese-Arabic cultural dialogue.



In this study, we will briefly introduce the Chinese female writer Tie Ning and her representative works, with a focus on the Arabic translation of her work "How Far is Forever". We will also introduce the translator of this version, Professor Abdul-Aziz Hamdi (الأستاذ الدكتور عبدالعزيز حمدي), as well as the American scholar Eugene Nida, who proposed the theory of categorizing cultural elements. Subsequently, based on Nida’s classification of cultural elements, we will categorize and analyze the cultural elements found in the Arabic translation and further explore the translation strategies adopted by the translator when dealing with different types of cultural elements.
